Five shootings hit Milwaukee Easter weekend

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A violent afternoon in Milwaukee as authorities responded to five separate shootings, all within about an hour and a half. One of those shootings was fatal.

84 minutes is the time that elapsed between the first shooting Saturday afternoon, and the last.

The incidents are not thought to be related and so far only one of those incidents resulted in death.

It's the kind of scene you never want to see on your block, police tape roping off the spot where a 27-year-old man was shot and killed.

"I was watching The First 48 in here and then I come outside and seen The First 48 down the street," said Nathan Brooks, neighbor.

It all happened about 3:20 on Saturday near 10th and Kiehnau. Police say the victim was there to purchase drugs and was then shot by the drug dealer during the transaction.

They say the dealer then fled the scene.

"I seen the people standing out here so I rushed outside to look and that's what it was, a body laying out in the street taped off," said Brooks.

None of the people FOX6 News spoke with heard the gun shots. But one neighbor told us they're not that uncommon.

"Oh, that's nothing. When I was moving in here there was gun fire right in front of my doors so it's guns and then they allowing people to have guns now, so you know I don't know what's going on," said Anthony Gordon, neighbor.

Saturday afternoon proved to be abnormally violent: There were 5 shootings within and hour and half time span.

"Senseless crimes you know, there's not cause for it," said Gordon.
