Flight for Life called out to crash at Highway 33, Highway P in Dodge County

DODGE COUNTY (WITI) --  Flight for Life responded to a motor vehicle crash on Highway 33 at the intersection with Highway P in the Township of Herman Wednesday night, March 18th.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 36-year-old man from Neosho was operating a pickup truck towing a trailer south on Highway P and was stopped at the stop sign at Highway 33. A 53-year-old man from Bell Fountain, Ohio, was operating a semi (box trailer, with 40,000 pounds of cheese) east on Highway 33.  Officials say the pickup truck entered the intersection and was struck by the semi.

The semi traveled off of the roadway and overturned in a pond.  An unknown amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the ground and into the pond.



The 36-year-old man from Neosho sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was transported by EMS to Hartford Hospital, but was later transferred to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee.   A 67-year-old man from Neosho, who was a  passenger in the right front seat of the pickup truck,  sustained life-threatening injuries and was flown from the scene by Flight for Life helicopter to Froedtert Hospital.

The 53-year-old man from  Bell Fountain, Ohio, who was operating the semi, sustained non life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to St. Joe’s Hospital in West Bend.

Highway 33 was closed for approximately three hours.

Assisting at the scene was:  Dodge County Crash Investigation Team, Dodge County Emergency Response Team, Allenton and Theresa Fire Departments, Mayville EMS, Allenton EMS, Theresa EMS, Wisconsin DNR, Flight for Life helicopter.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Dodge County Crash Investigation Team.
