Fond du Lac police say they arrested a 19-year-old Menasha man early Sunday, Jan. 19 for allegedly setting fire to an office space leased to U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman.
FOND DU LAC, Wis. - Fond du Lac police say they arrested a 19-year-old Menasha man early Sunday, Jan. 19 for allegedly setting fire to an office space leased to U.S. Representative Glenn Grothman (R-WI).
Arson suspected
What we know:
Around 1 a.m. Sunday, Fond du Lac officers and Fond du Lac Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 525 N. Peters Avenue. Officers arrived and used fire extinguishers to hold the fire in check until fire companies arrived and extinguished the fire.

Police located the Menasha man near the strip mall. Officials say the man admitted to starting the fire in response to recent talks of a TikTok ban.

The Menasha man is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail and a charge of arson is being referred to the Fond du Lac County District Attorney’s Office.


The building was unoccupied at the time and no injuries were reported.
What they're saying:
"I think I was just targeted because I am this guy’s congressman," Grothman said. "I think we have to focus on – no matter how you feel about your congressman and voting we can’t solve problems by trying to set an office on fire."
