Fond du Lac woman taken to hospital via Flight for Life after crash involving truck pulling trailer on I-41
WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office say a 31-year-old North Fond du Lac woman was taken to the hospital via Flight for Life after a crash on I-41 SB near Highway 28 in the Town of Wayne Monday, August 1st.
It happened around 4:00 p.m.
Sheriff's officials say the crash involved a car and a truck that was pulling a cattle trailer.
The driver of the car, the 31-year-old North Fond du Lac Woman, was trapped in her vehicle after the crash and needed to be extricated. Her vehicle was found with severe damage at the scene.
The driver of the truck, which was pulling a 26-foot cattle trailer -- a 34-year-old Arlington, Wisconsin man, was not hurt.
The trailer was damaged in the front near the hitch/king pin and in the rear.
After she was extricated from her vehicle, the 31-year-old woman was taken by ambulance to the staging area for Flight for Life. She was then taken by helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
An investigation into this crash has revealed traffic on I-41 was slowed/stopped in the area where the crash happened as a result of a construction zone.
The truck and trailer was stopped in the right lane of traffic when officials say the car failed to stop and rear-ended the cattle trailer.
Sheriff's officials say inattentive driving on behalf of the 31-year-old North Fond du Lac woman is believed to be the contributing factor in this crash.
