HUSTISFORD -- A four-alarm fire destroyed a home in the Town of Hustisford on Friday, November 23rd.
The fire broke out around 8:30 a.m. in the back of the home. But strong winds early Friday morning caused the fire to spread extremely fast.
Firefighters were pulled from fighting the fire within the home just a few minutes after their arrival -- for fear of a collapse. Ultimately, fire had engulfed most of the building and the decision was made to destroy the building altogether.
"The wind just fuels the fire. It's very difficult to try to determine where the center of the fire is because of the smoke and it just makes it harder to knock down," said Lt. Debra Meyer of the Hustisford Fire Department.
One person was at home at the time of the fire. That person was not hurt. But several family pets within the home died in the fire.
