Four-day meal-packing blitz for hungry children kicks off Wednesday

BROOKFIELD -- Church congregants and members of Thrivent Financial For Lutherans will kick off a four-day meal-packing effort Wednesday, September 19th. The effort is aimed at packaging 296,000 meals for starving children.

The meals will be packaged inside the fellowship hall of the Brookfield Lutheran Church. Over 1,500 volunteers will pack meals consisting of rice, soy, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables. 

Each meal costs $.22 to product.

This is Thrivent Financial's fourth year hosting the event in Waukesha.

As a result of the four years Thrivent Financial has hosted this event in Waukesha, 4,756 children will have been fed for a year.

The four-day meal-packing blitz kicks off Wednesday evening at 6:30 at Brookfield Lutheran Church on Burleigh. The meal-packing blitz continues through Saturday.
