FOX6 is first local news station allowed inside Sikh Temple
OAK CREEK-- A FOX6 News crew was the first local news station allowed inside the Oak Creek Sikh Temple since Sunday's shooting in which six lost their lives, and three were critically injured. This, on the same day memorial services were held for the six victims inside Oak Creek High School's gymnasium.
Members of the congregation allowed FOX6's photographer and reporter Tami Hughes inside the temple around 8:30 Friday evening, August 10th.
On Friday, members of the Sikh community began reading their entire book of scripture -- expected to last through the weekend.
Members walked FOX6's news crew through the temple's upstairs, where gunman Wade Michael Page went into several rooms, shooting at people and objects. There are dents in stainless steel appliances where bullets went through walls. One bullet hole was left as-is, in the kitchen. It serves as a reminder of the day and the six lives that were lost.
Most everything else has been cleaned with bleach. New carpet has been laid, and walls have been painted. Bouquets of flowers line the floors and walls.
