MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- He is the grandson of one of the four founders of Harley-Davidson Motor Company. Now, Willie G. Davidson, known to riders simply as Willie G., can't help but marvel on the accomplishments that started in Milwaukee.

What began in a shed has grown into an iconic product known worldwide. Did the founding four really dream this big? No way to know. But Willie G. says they were just dreams; they were doers whose skills overlapped just perfectly.

"It all meshed. It was a great moment in time when they got together. They had the right combination. Arthur was sales, Walter senior was the knowledgeable president, and my grandfather was the works manager," said Willie G.

To think at one time, there were 150 American companies making motorcycles. Now there's just two. That shows the connections made in Harley-Davidson's early days were powerful enough to be passed on through generations. Skilled founders? Yes, but a slice of something else too.

"The bar and shield's at the center of it. And that's the magic of the company. It's people and there's an emotional tie to that bar and shield and it's very unique to have an emotional love affair going on," said Willie G.
