"Frustrating:" Germantown police say burglary crew targeting homes of those of Asian, Indian descent
GERMANTOWN -- Germantown police say a certain group is being targeted after a string of recent burglaries. Police say six homes have been hit, and those living in those homes are of Asian and Indian descent.
Two of these burglaries happened on Monday, June 20th.
"It was a kind of scary situation," a victim said. "We have this back patio door -- it was completely smashed."
On Monday afternoon, a Germantown family returned home to a huge mess.
"All the drawers were pulled out. Clothes were thrown," the victim said.
Their home had been ransacked, and they quickly realized what happened.
"It was obvious someone was in our house that wasn`t supposed to be," the victim said.
Police were called, and this family learned they weren't the only ones recently burglarized.
"This is very specific to what they`re taking and who they are taking it from," Germantown Police Chief Peter Hoell said.
Police say this burglary is one of six recent burglaries to occur in Germantown -- with all of them happening during the day, and all of them targeting certain ethnicities.
"The entries were similar and they all targeted Asian and Indian people," Hoell said.
Police won't say why exactly, these people are being victimized.

"What the burglars are taking are small valuables -- jewelry, money, things of that nature," Hoell said.
" They didn`t find much. They didn`t take much," the victim said.
This Germantown family is now warning others, hopeful the criminals will be caught.
"It`s really terrible what they did -- really frustrating," the victim said.
Police believe this is a "burglary crew" committing these crimes.
