Germantown High School teacher put on administrative "leave"

GERMANTOWN -- FOX6 News has learned a teacher from Germantown High School was arrested and booked into the Milwaukee County Jail Wednesday, April 18th -- accused of having an inappropriate encounter with a female student at a non-school event, outside of the school district.

FOX6 News is not naming the teacher, because he has not yet been charged.

An assistant superintendent for the Germantown School District tells FOX6 News, the teacher was placed on paid administrative leave Monday, April 16th, as the district looked into allegations he was seen having inappropriate contact with a Germantown High School student at a non-school sponsored event in Milwaukee.

In a written statement, the administration said: "The leave was necessary to allow time for the Milwaukee Police Department to conduct an accurate and thorough investigation into the allegations."

To date, the school administration and school resource officer have been actively cooperating in the investigation with MPD.

Surprised students say rumors have been flying through school all week. Some say the allegations do not fit the description of the teacher they know.

A letter was sent home to parents, explaining the situation.
