Germantown police seeking man accused of child enticement

GERMANTOWN (WITI) -- Germantown police say a nine-year-old girl was approached by a man on Sunday afternoon, September 9th, and police say the little girl did the right thing, by running for home. Now, Germatown police are seeking the public's help in identifying that man.

Police say the girl was walking her dog on Sunday afternoon, around 4:30.

“She was approached by a man who was also walking his dog. When the two got close together, the man asked the girl if she wanted to touch his genitals. At that point, she immediately recognized that as a sign of danger. She ran home and reported to mom and dad," Germantown Police Lt. Todd Grenier said.

As the little girl was leaving, she reportedly heard the man say "just kidding."

Now, Germantown police are looking for that man.

The girl told police the man was white with a light tan, in his 40s, about 5'7" tall, "rounder" in shape, but not obese, with short brown hair that was combed over in the front, facial hair similar to a goatee and sideburns.

The man was reportedly wearing a short-sleeved shirt, orange and yellow shorts, a small backpack containing a bottle of red Gatorade, and was walking a medium-sized white dog.

The encounter happened in the area of Revere Lane and Nig-Bor Drive.

Jason Parker's home happens to be adjacent to that intersection.

"We were home yesterday when it supposedly happened, making dinner with the kids and stuff so, it’s pretty shocking. I wish I could have seen something," Parker said.

Parker says everyone knows everyone in the neighborhood, so he's sure someone will figure out who the man is.

Germantown police are counting on it.

"We take it very seriously and again, we’re just asking the public to just to be aware of the description and if they do see someone who fits that description please give us a call so that we can follow up," Lt. Greiner said.
