Get rid of your unwanted electronics and help those in need
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A free electronics collection drive at Milwaukee's Pettit National Ice Center was held Saturday, August 23rd.
The event named, "Stuff the Truck for Independence Drive," encourages people to donate old electronic items including old computers, laptops, cell phones, tablets, and TV's.
Donations go to IndependenceFirst, a nonprofit organization benefiting people with disabilities in four Milwaukee area Counties.
"We have a department there that is fully run by volunteers who come in and recycle the equipment, wipe off the hard drives, reload the application software and put on some additional software for the applicants," said Joel Hoedel.
If you didn't get a chance to drop off your electronics today, you can recycle your unwanted items at River Run Headquarters in Glendale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week.
