Glendale police chase of stolen SUV; speeds exceeded 90 mph
MILWAUKEE - A 17-year-old Milwaukee boy is accused of leading police on a miles-long police chase in what was believed to be a stolen SUV. The accused is Tyray Giles -- and he faces the following criminal counts:
- Second-degree recklessly endangering safety
- Operating a motor vehicle to flee or in an attempt to elude an officer
- Obstructing an officer

What we know:
According to the criminal complaint, Glendale police attempted to stop an SUV on Wednesday, Jan. 1 that was reported stolen. Officers in a marked squad activated their emergency lights and sirens. But instead of stopping, the driver in the SUV accelerated away -- and a police chase was underway.
The complaint indicates the driver in the SUV "maneuvered extremely dangerously through Milwaukee County streets, at speeds exceeding 80, 90 mph at times, driving through controlled intersections without stopping, driving against opposing traffic, and also driving up onto a sidewalk."

Eventually, the SUV stopped -- and the defendant, identified by an officer, was arrested after a foot pursuit. The total length of the police chase was nearly 7 1/4 miles. The defendant provided a phone number to officers, "which was confirmed to be associated with a phone found in the stolen Kia," the complaint says.
Giles made his initial appearance in Milwaukee County court on Sunday, Jan. 5. Cash bond was set at $10,000.
