MADISON — Gov. Scott Walker has signed a bill that allows people to register to vote online.
The governor signed the bill privately at the Capitol on Wednesday morning, March 16th -- less than 24 hours after the Senate passed it on a voice vote Tuesday afternoon. The Assembly passed the bill last month.
The bill requires the state Government Accountability Board to maintain a secure online registration form. Eligible voters with a valid state driver's license, state ID card or veterans ID card can register through the form.
Walker said in a news release that the bill will help senior citizens and veterans vote.
Thirty other states as well as the District of Columbia offer online registration.
