Gov. Walker doesn't want politicians to keep campaign money

MADISON — Gov. Scott Walker says he doesn't want retiring politicians to be able to spend leftover campaign cash on whatever they want.

Walker commented on the issue Tuesday. The head of the state Government Accountability Law said at a public hearing on a bill rewriting state campaign finance law would allow that to happen.

Walker says "I would hope they would change that." Walker says he has no interest of using any money left over in his campaign account for his own personal spending when he leaves office.

The bill subject to Tuesday's hearing would allow third party issue advocacy groups to coordinate with candidates, double political campaign contributions and permit political action committees to accept unlimited contributions.
