Gov. Walker okays $10 million improvement project at Waukesha County Airport
WAUKESHA COUNTY (WITI) -- Gov. Scott Walker gave his approval on Wednesday, November 3rd for a $10 million project to reconstruct runway 10/28 at the Waukesha County Airport/Crites Field.
Andrew Trimble, airport development engineer with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said that the reconstruction of the 5,850 foot runway is needed as it is requiring extensive and costly repairs. The reconstructed runway will provide the county with a solid foundation for aircraft operations for many years to come.
Funding Breakdown
The construction project is scheduled to begin in late spring 2015 and should be finished by late summer.
Waukesha County Airport/Crites Field is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
