Greenfield man arrested for firing gun after becoming upset that neighbors were shooting off fireworks

GREENFIELD -- Greenfield police on Saturday night, July 2nd arrested a 45-year-old man for firing his gun after becoming upset that his neighbor was continually shooting off fireworks.

Police were called out to a home near 84th and Howard Avenue in Greenfield shortly after 10:00 p.m. Saturday for a report of a person who fired a gun. A juvenile caller reported that a neighbor came onto his balcony and fired a gun in his direction.

Officers spoke with a 45-year-old man in a neighboring apartment building who first told police he shot a firework off in the direction of the juvenile.

The man then admitted that he fired his .40 caliber pistol out of anger after his neighbor was continually shooting off fireworks.

Police recovered a pistol and magazine from the man's apartment. He was arrested for recklessly endangering safety.

The case has been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office for charging.
