Gunshots on I-43: Authorities investigate confirmed shooting near Brown Deer Rd.

MILWAUKEE CO. (WITI) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff is investigating a confirmed shooting that happened on northbound I-43 near Brown Deer Rd. on Tuesday afternoon, July 22nd.

Two vehicles were involved in a gun battle. One of those vehicles hit a wall before it crossed the highway and ended up in a ditch.

No one was injured. Three people were arrested at the shooting scene. That includes the driver of the vehicle that crashed as well two others in the vehicle.

Initially the incident was reported as a crash. Multiple people have told the Sheriff’s Office that before the crash they saw another vehicle. They told investigators that someone in the vehicle may have had a gun.

Bayside and River Hills police are involved in the investigation. It's still not clear what provoked the incident.
