Drugs found during Hartford traffic stop; 1 taken into custody

One person was taken into custody by Hartford police on Dec. 14 after drugs were found in their vehicle during a traffic stop. 

According to Hartford police, an officer conducted a traffic stop after he observed a vehicle speeding and running a red light within the City of Hartford.

The vehicle did not immediately stop, and the officer noted the driver was making numerous movements towards the center console. 

During the traffic stop, K-9 Flash was deployed and provided a positive alert for the presence of drugs. While performing a probable cause search, officers opened the center console and located 15.34 grams of multicolored pressed pills, which tested for the presence of Methamphetamine/ Fentanyl.

There were 38 pills in total and they were in the form of small edible candy. The driver provided consent to search his phone. Police say over 900 text messages of drug activity were discovered, including messages to deliver these drugs. 

The individual is being held at the Washington County jail on charges for possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
