MILWAUKEE - Hayat Pharmacy is working to simplify the COVID-19 vaccine process by hosting walk-in clinics throughout Milwaukee for anyone eligible, provided they bring proof of age or profession.
The first clinic wrapped up Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 24. The final clinic is Saturday, Feb. 27.
Patients turning to Hayat Pharmacy for their vaccine can skip the hassle of navigating an online portal, downloading a mobile app or waiting for a call back.
"I think the challenges have been technology," said Dimmy Sokhal, pharmacist.
The pharmacy is partnering with local outreach organizations to host the daily clinics, allowing people to simply show up without an appointment.
"People will be able to walk into this place and get my vaccine if I qualify," said Sokhal.

One-hundred shots were available at Wednesday's clinic at the Milwaukee Christian Center, where many of the families served face language barriers that make it difficult to seek out the vaccine.
"So we have taken the time to translate to them what this is about," said Karen Higgins, executive of the Milwaukee Christian Center.
Longtime program participant Isidro Carrera shared the good news with his family in Mexico.
"My son called me this morning from Mexico City and said, 'Did you have your vaccine yet?'" said Carrera. "I said, 'No but I’m going to have it today.' 'Oh good!'"
The 85-year-old initially feared he wouldn’t get the vaccine after being turned away from multiple providers.
"They said, 'We’ll call you,' but they haven’t called me," he said.
In a similar situation, Patti Perthel raced to the clinic from Cedarburg to get her parents vaccinated.
"We had a hard time finding a place for them to get it because they don’t have email," said Perthel.
For them, the vaccine not only provides protection from the virus, but represents the first step in returning to the way things used to be.
"It’s a relief now that I can enjoy life," said Raphael Skiba.
