Heart of Canal Street: Milwaukee Public Library officials receive check for $31K from Potawatomi



MILWAUKEE -- It was a big day Thursday, December 17th for the Milwaukee Public Library and the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino.

Library officials received a check for more than $31,000.

The money came from the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino's "Heart of Canal Street" program. FOX6 News is a signature sponsor.

The money was raised through special bingo games from August through November at the casino.

All of the money benefits charities that help children.

"We're able to children and help organizations that help children on a number of different levels be it putting roofs over their heads, putting food on their plates, an here at the milwaukee public library putting books in their hands and really helping with their education and building a strong foundation for children in the area," Ryan Amundson, with Potawatomi Hotel & Casino said.

Since its inception in 1994, the Heart of Canal Street program has made more than 550 donations totaling nearly $16 million.
