"History is sprinkled within the space:" 1919 Kitchen & Tap opens for business inside Lambeau Field

GREEN BAY -- A new dining experience at Lambeau and it's being touted as a restaurant like no other in Green Bay.

1919 Kitchen & Tap officially opens with a snip of the ribbon in Lambeau Field's atrium -- and with that, the restaurant is officially open.

"I think it's a real credit to the Packers that they've tried to make everything special," said John Butitta, restaurant patron.

That's basically what Green Bay Packers President and CEO Mark Murphy said.

"I think when you see the restaurant you'll see that we created something that's very unique. I don't think there's a restaurant quite like it in Green Bay," said Murphy.

So what makes this restaurant so unique?



"The history is sprinkled within the space. You'll see images of 1919 which is when the Packers were formed, thus the name -- and you will see retired numbers," said Packers Stadium Services Director, Jennifer Ark.

They wanted the restaurant to have a rustic, natural look. There's copper piping for the beverages, steel and brick.

Some reclaimed wood pieces are courtesy of Scathain -- a Milwaukee company. You'll find their work in the host stand, beer stations at the back of the bar and the leather upholstered booths.

We must not forget what goes in your stomach! The place has 80 beers on tap.

"I'm from Colorado where we have fabulous beers, but i was just looking at all the beers on tap and it's just a fabulous selection. I'm really excited, actually," said Jon Green, restaurant patron.

The first floor atrium restaurant also has outdoor patio seating. In the past, the stadium restaurant had been located on the second floor.

Also coming to the Lambeau Field atrium, the Hall of Fame will open.
