MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Hunger Task Force is in danger of having to take peanut butter off their network’s menu so they are reaching out to the public in efforts to raise 100,000 jars.
For those in need, peanut butter is very nearly a perfect food. It appeals to all ages, requires no heating for those without a stove, no can opener for those without the utensil and is perfect to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Due to consistent increases in food prices, the current cost for a truckload of peanut butter is $50,000. In order for Hunger Task Force to maintain consistent service levels, the push is on to raise three truckloads of peanut butter which adds up to 100,000 jars. Milwaukeeans are being asked to host a Peanut Butter food drive, or just stop at Hunger Task Force with a donation. A running total will appear on the Hunger Task Force freeway sign along I-94, as well as on HungerTaskForce.org.
Hunger Task Force is located at 201 S. Hawley Court, between Miller Park and Wisconsin State Fair.
