Hunger Task Force Summer Meals for Kids program kicks off
MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Hunger Task Force's Summer Meals For Kids Program kicked off Thursday, May 31st.
Hunger Task Force employees and volunteers put up signs all over Milwaukee County Thursday.
Hunger Task Force Director Sherrie Tussler says one of every two people the Task Force serves in the County is a child. She says when school is out, kids go hungry the most.
"In the month of August in particular, child hunger is at its highest possible level in the city. Kohls is providing a host of providers to be able to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner to children," Sherrie Tussler said.
The Hunger Task Force is taking donations for the Summer Meals Program. They also take donations to provide snacks to kids.
