Hunting accident: Slinger man dies after falling from tree stand in Washington County
WASHINGTON COUNTY -- A 50-year-old man from the Village of Slinger died Thursday night, October 29th after falling from his tree stand in Washington County.
According to authorities, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting that a hunter was found unresponsive at the bottom of his tree stand near Saint Augustine Road in the Town of Erin.
The caller was the victim’s son who had gone out to look for his father after he had not returned home after dark.
Richfield Fire/EMS were dispatched to the area along with deputies. The first arriving deputies and EMS personnel located the victim deep in the woods and began life saving efforts.
Lisbon Fire/EMS was also requested to the scene for advanced life support and their utility terrain vehicle. Flight for Life out of Waukesha was requested to respond to the area -- however they were cancelled just prior to landing.
The victim, a 50-year-old Village of Slinger man was pronounced dead at the scene.
This incident does not appear to be suspicious in nature. It is believed that the victim fell approximately 20 feet out of the tree.
The case remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s and Medical Examiner's Offices.
