Law enforcement activity at I-41/US-45 split in Washington County
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. - The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal pedestrian crash Wednesday morning, Dec. 27 on Interstate 41.
Officials said a semi struck a pedestrian on southbound I-41 near Sherman Road in the town of Polk around 7:45 a.m. The sheriff's office said the victim was struck in the middle of the traffic lanes of the interstate. The semi driver was not hurt, remained on scene and was fully cooperative with investigators.
Deputies and officers with the Slinger Police Department were dispatched to the area just before the accident for a possible distressed individual on the Sherman Road overpass. Hours after the scene was cleared, the sheriff's office indicated it was a suicide.

The incident remains under investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and the Washington County Medical Examiner’s Office. Also assisting at the scene were the Slinger Fire Department, Washington County Highway Shop and Lifestar Ambulance.
