"I couldn't believe it:" Victims robbed at gunpoint shocked to learn suspects were so young

RACINE -- Three Racine friends are robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped. The victim's say they aren't surprised by the crime that occurred, but the young ages of the suspects -- 13, 14, and 15-years-old.

For three Racine friends, a trip home took a scary turn Monday, December 7th.

"It was just a couple steps away from my home and it happened," said Adrian Esquivel-Ramirez, victim.

As they parked the car on Geneva Street, near Hamilton...

"I was just like, 'something bad is going to happen.' And it did," said Victor Villa, victim.

Four boys approached.

"One of them released a gun and threatened me and told me to give him my bag," said Villa.

The friends were startled by the suspects, armed with a gun demanding their belongings. As they stole one bag, they tried taking another.

"He was like, 'give me your stuff.' I was like, 'no.' So, he pointed the gun at me and kept walking toward me and tried to grab and I just pushed him off," said Esquivel-Ramirez.

Esquivel-Ramirez refused.

"That's when he hit me with a gun," said Esquivel-Ramirez.

The suspects ran up the road and three were arrested by police a short time later.

"I was just shocked. I couldn't believe it really," said Esquivel-Ramirez.

The most surprising part of it is the suspects' ages.

"I couldn't believe they were so young," said Esquivel-Ramirez.

They are just 13, 14 and 15-years-old.

"To have a motivation to do that is, I can't really think of it," said Esquivel-Ramirez.

A crime that took three friends off-guard has brought them closer, warning others so they don't become victims.

"Watch out and be cautious, no matter who or what," said Villa.

Police are still looking for a fourth suspect. Anyone with information should contact the Racine Police Department at 262-635-7700.
