"I love them:" Santa, sanitation workers team up to deliver Christmas surprise for boy 'obsessed' with garbage cans

FOLSOM, California -- Santa Claus, with help from some city sanitation workers made a four-year-old boy's Christmas wish come true. This was no ordinary wish -- and the boy's unusual request brought out the entire neighborhood.

While other kids were unwrapping gifts on Christmas Day in Folsom, California, four-year-old Jobiah Wells was putting away the garbage cans.

His parents say it's an obsession that began two years ago.

"It started with waving at the trucks each week, and then they started waving back," Rachael Wells, Jobiah's mom said.

Now, young Jobiah not only pulls up his family's trash cans, but he takes his neighbors in too.

"I pull up their cans to make them happy," Jobiah Wells said.

The boy doesn't just help out one or two neighbors -- but 17 in all!

"Some people are outside so they say 'thank you' and I sometimes say 'you're welcome,'" Jobiah Wells said.

The garbage truck drivers say they see this week after week.

"He loves it so much, and I'm just amazed at how he goes up and down this neighborhood and puts everybody's back and it just has to be perfect too," Cliff Kallis said.

When it came time for Jobiah to make his list for Santa this year -- you may be able to guess what was at the top of that list: Shiny new garbage cans.

When his mom asked whether there was anything else he wanted to ask Santa for, Jobiah said: "Just the trash cans."

Clearly Jobiah was on Santa's "nice" list this year -- what with all the help he gives his neighbors each week on garbage day.

But the garbage truck drivers also wanted to do something nice for Jobiah this Christmas -- some brand new garbage cans.

At first, the young boy was speechless -- but then he got right to work, wheeling down the old cans, to trade them in for the news ones.

The drivers on Jobiah's route -- Cliff Kallis and Aaron Wilson are like rock stars to the four-year-old.

"He loves me. He loves garbage. He loves all things garbage. He loves the drivers. He can't get enough of the drivers," Wilson said.

"It warms my heart, it really does. It's just amazing," Kallis said.

Santa Claus did drop off a remote control garbage truck for Jobiah, along with other toys, but this four-year-old boy had his heart set on four brand new cans.

"I love them, so I'm going to keep them, since I love them," Jobiah Wells said.

Officials with the city of Folsom posted video of Jobiah Wells and his new garbage can delivery on their Facebook page.
