Ice shoves causing property damage around Lake Winnebago
LAKE WINNEBAGO (WITI) -- Huge chunks of ice are causing property damage around Wisconsin's Lake Winnebago.
They're called ice shoves and were created when huge winds pushed blocks of ice on shore.
One man's boat house was destroyed.
The owner of an ice extraction business says he is used to ice shoves in the area, just not at this time of year.
"This doesn't really happen. This is a freak of nature. 60 mile-an-hour winds, you don't get that a lot in January,"
There is no telling when all the ice will thaw out. The National Weather Service says an arctic air mass is bringing the region some of the coldest air of the season.
