"It shook me up:" Woman carjacked at gunpoint in broad daylight in Brown Deer; three arrested

BROWN DEER -- A woman was carjacked at gunpoint in broad daylight in Brown Deer on a sunny Sunday afternoon, November 1st -- and police are calling the suspects responsible "brazen." This incident happened in the parking lot of a strip mall off of N. Green Bay Road -- and we've learned arrests have been made.

"It kind of just shook me up a little bit," Marissa Wheeler said. "I come here quite often."

Wheeler was in the same parking lot near the strip mall Monday -- where the violent carjacking occurred just one day earlier.

Police say two suspects ordered a woman out of her vehicle at gunpoint.

"When I did come here I was more cautious than I normally am since what happened yesterday. I was looking around more than I normally do," Wheeler said.

Police say the victim, a woman in her 30s, wasn't hurt during the carjacking -- and the suspects reportedly took off in her vehicle -- heading south towards Milwaukee.

Brown Deer police say this type of crime isn't common in the community.

"It's new for us. We don't have a lot of these. We've had a few of them in the past -- but very sporadic," Brad Caddock, Brown Deer police officer said.

The carjacking occurred around 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Four hours later, Milwaukee police had three suspects in custody.

"At about 5:30 p.m., one of their officers located the vehicle and surrounded the vehicle, recovered the vehicle and three people we taken into custody," Caddock said.

Caddock say this incident is an example of the fact that you can never let your guard down -- no matter where you are, or what you're doing. It is important to always be aware of your surroundings.

"Be aware of your surroundings -- especially with the upcoming holiday season and try not to look distracted or be distracted by what you are doing or items you are carrying," Caddock said.

Police say two 15-year-old suspects and a 17-year-old suspect were found in the stolen vehicle on Sunday.

No charges have yet been filed.
