Jeep recalls 194,000 plug-in hybrid SUVs

Jeep is recalling more than 194,000 plug-in hybrid SUVs because of a serious fire risk.
Some of the vehicles are at risk of catching fire, even with the ignition turned off. Therefore, Jeep is urging owners not to charge the SUVs and to park them outdoors and away from buildings until they are repaired.
Thirteen fires have been reported so far, resulting in two people being injured.
The company says the risk of fire is reduced when the battery charge is depleted.
The recall involves some Wranglers 4xe from 2020 to 2024, and some Grand Cherokee 4xe from 2022 to 2014. Stellantis, which makes Jeeps, estimates that 5% of the SUVs have the problem.
If you have one of the affected vehicles, Stellania said you’ll be notified when you can schedule service.
