New Milwaukee Archbishop Jeffrey Grob installed Tuesday
MILWAUKEE - The Archdiocese of Milwaukee installed Jeffrey Grob as the 12th archbishop on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 14.

What we know:
The installation began at 1:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson Street, in Milwaukee. The Papal Nuncio to the United States, Christophe Cardinal Pierre, attended on behalf of Pope Francis.
The backstory:
Grob, 63, succeeds the Most Reverend Jerome Listecki, who gave his notice of retirement on his 75th birthday, March 12, as required.
"I'm deeply grateful to be appointed archbishop of Milwaukee. I will do everything in my power to serve with a faith-filled heart," Grob said in a news conference in November. "The church still has many things to offer and speaks to a waiting world."
Grob has served as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago since Nov. 13, 2020.

The Most Reverend Jeffrey Grob has been named the 12th Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee by Pope Francis, the Vatican announced Monday, Nov. 4.

What's next:
The archbishop-designate said he plans to serve with a faith-filled heart.
"For me, so much of the work is evangelization," Grob said. "So many people don’t know the depth of their Catholic faith or how to come to know Jesus better. The work is bountiful."

The other side:
A service was held Monday night in celebration of Grob's installation. During that service, people protested outside, demanding justice for sexual abuse survivors in the clergy. The group is called Nate's Mission.
In his first 100 days of leadership, the group wants Grob to provide abuse-related documents and evidence to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, update the Milwaukee archdiocese’s list of restricted priests, and remove anyone from leadership involved in covering up sexual abuse.
Nate's Mission says the archbishop agreed to meet with them soon.
