MADISON, Wis. - Former second lady Jill Biden, vying to become the country's next first lady, traveled to Madison and Waukesha on Monday, Sept. 28 to help the Biden-Harris campaign.

Biden took part in a "Get Out the Vote" event in the Democratic stronghold of Madison. From there, she traveled to Eagle, a rural part of Waukesha County -- a Republican stronghold -- in this key battleground state President Trump won in 2016 by fewer than 23,000 votes.
"Let's wake up November 4th, knowing that we did everything we can to feel that hope again," she told the crowd of supporters at a private event on a farm.
The longtime teacher with a doctorate in education laid out her husband's plan for the economy, lowering health care costs, and protecting people with pre-existing conditions.
"He will not only defend the Affordable Care Act, he will build upon it, as well," Biden promised of her husband.
She also said there's chaos in this moment that can create anxiety; instead, she urged people to let it spark action, by voting for her husband and running mate Sen. Kamala Harris.
"We just need leadership, worthy of our nation, worthy of all of you," she said.

Joining Jill Biden was former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Janine Geske, an appointee of Governor Tommy Thompson. She made her first official partisan political endorsement, though she was critical of the conservative candidate in the 2019 Supreme Court race.
"We need a president like Joe Biden, who is going to treat people with respect," said the former justice.

In reaction to the pair of campaign events in Madison and Eagle, the Trump campaign fought back. "It's great that the Biden campaign has finally figured out where our state is on a map, but look, Wisconsinites know that President Trump is fighting for them day in and day out. He's been to Wisconsin several times this year; Vice President Pence has been here eight times this year. Wisconsinites see that President Trump cares about them," Trump Victory Spokeswoman Anna Kelly told FOX6.
Jill Biden's visit on Monday comes one week after Joe Biden visited this key battleground state, and the same week President Trump plans a pair of campaign rallies in Wisconsin, one in La Crosse and one in Green Bay on Saturday. His son, Eric, plans to campaign in Rothschild on Thursday.
The Real Clear Politics average of polls puts former Vice President Biden ahead of President Trump by a little more than six points -- the same margin Hillary Clinton had ahead of her 2016 loss in this battleground state.
