Jobs lost in March but unemployment rate falls slightly

MADISON (AP) -- Wisconsin lost 4,300 private sector jobs in March. The latest totals were reported Thursday, April 19th by the state Department of Workforce Development.

Despite the one-month drop in March, Wisconsin has added 15,600 private sector jobs this year. The state's unemployment rate for March also dropped slightly from 6.9 percent to 6.8 percent.

The pace is off Gov. Scott Walker's promise to create 250,000 new private-sector positions by the end of his first term. The state has added just 5,900 private sector jobs through March compared with before Walker took office in January 2011.
