Judge sets $1.4 million bail in Argyle fire that killed three
MADISON (AP) -- A judge set bail Wednesday, September 12th for a father accused of setting a house fire that killed his three sons at $1.4 million.
Armin Wand III of Argyle faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, three counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and one arson count.
LaFayette County Circuit Judge William D. Johnston set his bail Wednesday at $200,000 per count.
Investigators say Armin Wand III's brother, Jeremy Wand, helped set the fire. Jeremy Wand faces three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide and one arson charge.
Johnston set his bail Wednesday at $200,000 per count for a total cash bond of $1.2 million.
According to the criminal complaint, Armin and Jeremy Wand started a fire at the home of Armin Wand at 402 Oak Street in the Village of Argyle, Lafayette County, for the purpose of collecting insurance proceeds.
At the time the fire was set, Armin Wand’s pregnant wife and children were sleeping in the home (Sharon Wand; Allen Wand (Age 7), Jeffrey Wand (Age 5), Joseph Wand (Age 3) and Jessica Wand (Age 2).
At approximately 3:10 am, the Argyle-Adams Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at the residence and began efforts to save the occupants.
Allen, Jeffrey and Joseph Wand were killed in the fire. Sharon Wand was injured attempting to save her children and remains hospitalized. Jessica Wand survived.
