MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say K9 Officer "Arras" helped them arrest a felon who fled a traffic stop Sunday, June 10th.

Sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle at the lakefront's McKinley Marina parking lot for a plate violation just after 1:00 p.m.

The driver was later identified as 22-year-old Nathaniel Turner. Officials realized Turner was lying about his name during the traffic stop.

Deputies say Turner fled on foot across Lincoln Memorial Drive into the wooded area
behind the Alterra Coffee Shop.

Deputies set up a perimeter and brought in K9 "Arras" to track the subject. Arras immediately located Turner hiding behind an apartment complex on E. Kane Place.

A check on the vehicle indicated it was stolen out of Milwaukee. 11.9 grams of THC was found in the center counsel, and a wanted check revealed a felony Violation of Parole (VOP) for armed robbery.

Turner was arrested on charges of Possession of THC, Operating Without Owners Consent, Resisting/Obstructing an Officer, and the Felony Violation of Parole hold.

Turner faces up to 16 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

FOX6 News spoke with Arras' handler, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Sergeant Dan Dittberner Tuesday, June 12th.

"He comes to work, goes home with me. We're together 24/7. This was actually the fastest I think we've ever found somebody. I think from the time of the stop when the suspect took off, I think we had him back in custody in about eight minutes, so it was very quick," Sgt. Dittberner said.
