KFRD firefighters saw heavy smoke as they arrived, and multiple area fire departments were called in to assist – using roughly 22,000 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
The cause of the fire is believed to be "improper disposal of fireplace ashes," according to KFRD.
Officials said occupants of the home declined offers of emergency housing assistance but may be in need of assistance in other ways.
