Dan Mosley, one of the people, was visiting his in-laws next door when someone noticed the next-door neighbor’s house was on fire.
"This is heartbreaking, so we’re going to try to come together and deal with this," he said.
The family has known the couple that lived in the house for decades.
"I ran out, ran down the sidewalk," Mosley said. "Luckily he was on the porch. The back porch, but he decided to go back into the house for his wife."
However, the fire was too strong.
"A backdraft happened and blew me out the door into the fence, and he ended up on the porch," Mosley said.
Mosley and the woman’s husband were taken to the hospital.

"It was hard to see him like that, but I’m just glad he’s okay," he said. "[I’m] sorry for his loss."
The loss is also felt by Mosley’s father-in-law, Raul Garcia.
"We been here for 40 years so we known them for quite some time," Garcia said.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The surrounding area was blocked off.
