KENOSHA, Wis. - Kenosha County deputies responded to a pair of hit-and-runs Sunday, June 25 unlike any two they'd seen before.
"We had two hit-and-run crashes. The first suspect was also the deceased individual in the second hit-and-run," said Sgt. Colin Coultrip.
Deputies knew they had a hit-and-run when they found 36-year-old Scott Mingilino Jr. dead on the Highway 158. What they didn't know at the time was he was the suspect they were looking for in a hit-and-run from just a few hours prior. The man who hit Mingilino Jr. is now charged.

"Although I’m sorry this is happening to him, I’m sorry that I looked at my son in the medical examiner’s office," said Scott Mingilino, the victim's father. "On the early morning of June 25, 2023, Mr. Koprovic mowed down my son with his vehicle…No matter what happened before that, before this incident, there’s no reason that anybody could give me that my son deserved to be hit, be left to die, and have his life taken from him."
A sheriff's deputy found Mingilino Jr. dead on the road and saw a car parked on the shoulder. That car drove off, but was caught on dashcam – and the department shared a picture. Deputies said the driver of that car, William Koprovic, saw it on social media and turned himself in.

"He did the good deed of turning himself in at least and cooperating with law enforcement," said Sgt. Colin Coultrip.
The sheriff's office said Mingilino Jr. hit a semi head-on while driving the wrong way on Green Bay Road. It was after he ran from that scene that Koprovic hit and killed him, according to authorities.

"For the closure of everybody, it makes everything easier to recover from by doing the right thing, turning yourself in, and taking accountability for your actions," Coultrip said.
The Mingilino family said they are pleased with the $75,000 bond Koprovic received. The 63-year-old from Salem is charged with hit-and-run involving death.
