What we know:
According to the Kenosha Police Department, officers were called out to a residence near 75th Street and 22nd Avenue on Wednesday morning, April 1, between 6 and 6:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers located one female victim deceased.

Investigators say Plaza knew the woman but are not defining the relationship. The woman's identity has not been released.
Authorities say children were inside the home at the time, but they are now safe.
Police spent hours going door to door and searching backyards in the neighborhood. Officers say Plaza may be on foot and could still be in the area.
Plaza was charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide — use of a dangerous weapon.

Police believe he is attempting to seek transportation out of the area. He has ties to the City of Kenosha and to Lake Geneva.
He's described as a 33-year-old male, black, approximately 5’6" tall, 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark-colored sweatpants and a white tank top.

Kenosha police are asking residents to use caution in the area surrounding 75th Street and 22nd Avenue. Officers urge anyone who sees him not to engage and instead call police.

Police say they have no evidence Plaza is armed but are not ruling it out.

What they're saying:
"I don't know why he's trying to run because I know they'll find him, but it makes the rest of our neighborhood unsafe," said Elizabeth Gardner, who lives in Kenosha. "It makes the schools unsafe. They locked down all the schools."
"It's just scary, and I hope that they find him quick," said Angela Perez, a neighbor. "He doesn't hurt nobody else and that they get justice for the family, for her and her family."
