Kentonyo Morgan sentenced to 40 years in prison

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- A Milwaukee County judge sentenced 23-year-old Kentonyo Morgan on Thursday, January 23rd to 40 years in prison in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Daniel Gardner.

Morgan was also sentenced to an additional 25 years of extended supervision.

Gardner was gunned down on May 6, 2013 in broad daylight at a playground in Washington Park on Milwaukee’s north side.

Witnesses say the Morgan and Gardener exchanged words — and then the Gardner said something like, “You’re not going to do it here, are you?” Then, Morgan fired a shot that struck Gardner.

Morgan was found guilty in November 2013 of first-degree reckless homicide and felon in possession of a firearm.
