Hours later, state police said an officer in Shelbyville, Kentucky pulled over a Chevrolet Malibu for speeding. The officer learned the driver, later identified as Davis, was wanted for a Christmas bank robbery in Milwaukee – and later learned the car he was driving was wanted in connection to the Springfield murder, according to WDRB-TV's report.

Milwaukee investigation

FOX6 News obtained an arrest citation from WDRB-TV. According to that citation, Davis said he robbed a Milwaukee bank and used the money to buy two guns and camoflauge. The citation states he told police he then drove to Kentucky "for the purpose of killing" the victims.

Milwaukee police told FOX6 a business was burglarized near Swan and Hampton on Christmas, but did not specify whether it was a bank. However, MPD did state the suspect in the burglary was later arrested in Kentucky.
