La Crosse's "drumming granny" is 63-year-old Mary Hvizda
LA CROSSE (WITI) -- The workers at a La Crosse drum shop were floored this week when an older lady walked in, sat down at a drum kit, and just rocked it.
Take a look for yourself. The video has received over 1 million views on YouTube in just two days!
Now, we've learned more about the 63-year-old woman who can rock out to "Wipeout" on the drums with that now famous drumstick twirl!
Mary Hvizda first stopped by Coalition Drum Shop a few years ago, and much to her surprise, they let her play!
Now, she stops in every few months to rock out!
When she was younger, Hvizda played in several bands, from rock to country western, even playing with the Chantelles -- La Crosse's first all-female rock band.
Hvizda says she never took drumming too seriously, because she didn't think she was good enough.
In the video, Hvizda's playing a Gretsch Catalina Birch kit with a 5.5x14 Gretsch Brooklyn Snare and Zildjian cymbals.
