Landlord, co-worker, neighbors describe Sikh Temple suspect

CUDAHY -- Officials have identified the shooter in Sunday's Sikh Temple shooting incident during which six lost their lives, as 40-year-old Wade Michael Page. Page was fatally shot at the scene by Oak Creek police after he reportedly "ambushed" one officer outside the temple, and refused to comply with officers' commands to drop his weapon.

The FBI has been working to compile a timeline of Page's life. It appears Page's most recent home was a duplex in Cudahy, where officials executed a search warrant Sunday night.

Before that, Page reportedly lived in South Milwaukee with a girlfriend.

Neighbors in South Milwaukee told FOX6 News Page moved to the area about eight months ago. He reportedly lived with a woman named "Misty" and her young son.

No one in the neighborhood claimed to know much about the pair, except that two months after he moved in, Page got a temp job with Lucas Milhaupt -- a machine shop. Two months later, neighbors say the couple left.

"They stayed in the house. They didn't come outside. They didn't associate with anybody, and then as quick as you've seen them, they moved out. We didn't see them moving or anything. They just disappeared. We didn't even know they left until we had a new neighbor move in," neighbor Robert Hauglie said.

Page's most recent landlord told FOX6 News the pair moved to another South Milwaukee home, and Page was hired full-time, according to a co-worker. It was some time during this period neighbors say things fell apart with Misty, and Page was forced to move out.

"When I first met him he would say something about her -- she ruined his life.  She left him and ruined his life and he didn`t understand why. He would make people aware that he had a problem with his girlfriend, but then he didn't want to talk about it, so building it all up inside of him, and basically wouldn't let it go," Peter Hoyte said.

Kurt Weins is Page's most recent landlord and was Page's first roommate following the breakup. Weins told FOX6 News Page moved into a Cudahy duplex with him in late June, 2012. Then, on July 15th, Weins says Page moved to the second floor of the duplex to live on his own.

"He's quiet. He didn't say much. He always kept to himself. He stayed in his room for the most part," Weins said.

Hoyt says recently, Page's attitude took a different turn as the two would occasionally talk.

"I thought he was letting things go. I thought his behavior was better because he was more happy-go-lucky," Hoyt said.

Officials say when they searched the duplex Sunday night, they found an empty apartment.

"I don`t know if he loaded everything up, if he wasn`t planning on coming back.  That`s kind of what I`m thinking, cause I don`t know how he could stay here for three weeks and not have a toothbrush," Weins said.

Hoyt and Weins say they were shocked to hear Page was the gunman in the shooting.

"I was freaking. I had no idea. All of a sudden the cops were there. I really couldn't believe it," Weins said.

"I was stunned!" Hoyt said.

Page's former co-worker spoke with FOX6 News, and said about two-and-a-half weeks ago, Page stopped showing up for work, and would not return any calls. That co-worker told FOX6 News they recall Page being easily angered at times, and noted he did not talk about his past.
