MADISON — The Wisconsin Senate has passed a bill that makes repeated acts of child abuse a felony.
The bipartisan bill passed Tuesday would require that a jury unanimously agrees that a person physically abused the same child at least three times in a specified period. The period of time would depend on the facts of each case.
Penalties would range from 15 years in prison to life behind bars if the child is killed.
The bill now goes to the Assembly.
