Latest: Teen boy and girl had to be rescued from pier at Racine Harbor Tuesday night
RACINE -- Racine fire officials say a high-school age boy and girl became trapped on the rocks near a pier at the Racine Harbor on Tuesday evening, July 14th -- and they had to be rescued.
It happened around 9:00 p.m.
A Racine Fire Department dive boat was sent to the inside of the harbor to help the teens out. Neither were injured.d
The teens were released to their parents, who were waiting on shore for them.
A Racine fire official tells FOX6 News wind from the northeast kicked up big waves in the harbor, causing waves to crash hard into the pier -- making traversing the pier treacherous.
The National Weather Service issued a Beach Hazard Advisory Tuesday as a result of strong winds and big waves -- warning about strong currents.
