Latest: U.S. Marshals make arrest in 21-year-old Racine cold case
RACINE -- U.S. Marshals arrested a man in the Chicago area on Thursday, October 29th -- a man suspected in the 1994 shooting death of Andre McKinstry. The suspect now in custody is 45-year-old John Clay.
McKinstry was shot and killed inside Steve & B's Tavern on 16th St. in Racine on August 14, 1994.
Due to advances in DNA technology, this case investigation was reviewed for potential solvability in 2009.
Through the combined effort of Racine Police Department investigative personnel and members of the District Attorney’s Office, a warrant was issued for John Clay for the homicide of McKinstry.
U.S. Marshals located Clay in the Chicago area, where he was taken into custody without incident Thursday.
