WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office say a man was arrested on theft charges after allegedly failing to pay for a cab ride Sunday, December 4th from Lambeau Field to Richfield.
Sheriff's officials say they responded to the Richfield Truck Stop around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a report from a taxi driver that a customer had left without paying the fare.
The taxi driver, a 59-year-old man from Green Bay, advised he transported an individual from Lambeau to Richfield, and after arriving at the Richfield Truck Stop, the customer went inside under the guise of retrieving money from the ATM.
Instead, Sheriff's officials say the customer slipped out a back door.
The reported taxi fare was $475.60.
Sheriff's deputies spent about an hour tracking him for about a half-mile in the snow.
The customer, a 24-year-old Slinger man, was found inside a bar in downtown Richfield. It was determined he had been at the Packers vs. Texans game at Lambeau Field, where he became intoxicated and separated from his friends. He apparently lost his cell phone at the stadium.
He was able to find a taxi driver willing to give him a ride to Richfield.
After he was found, the man was arrested and given a complimentary ride to jail -- booked on theft charges.
