Man arrested for fifth OWI following motorcycle crash
MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee County Sheriff’s deputies say an Oak Creek man was arrested for his fifth OWI following a motorcycle crash Wednesday night, September 5th on I-794.
Sheriff's officials responded to the crash on eastbound I-794 on the west to the south ramp in the Lake Interchange at 9:40 p.m. last night.
A witness saw the motorcycle enter the curve at a high rate of speed and hit the retaining wall.
33-year-old Lester Hancock flew off the motorcycle and landed about 500 feet to the south on the ramp. The motorcycle, a 2012 Harley-Davidson FLHX Street Glide, went airborne and landed in the parking lot below the ramp near Jefferson Street.
Hancock was transported to Froedtert Hospital with head, ankle and hand injuries.
When he is discharged from the hospital, he will be taken into custody for his fifth OWI, a Class H felony.
He was also cited for Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed/Failure to Control Vehicle.
Hancock's prior OWI offenses occurred in December 1998, March 2000, March 2001 and December 2004.
He faces up to six years imprisonment on the fifth OWI charges.
