Man charged in death of Daniel Perez due in court
MILWAUKEE (WITI) — 49-year-old Luis Perez, the man facing multiple criminal charges in connection with the death of Daniel Perez, is due in court Wednesday, March 13th for his preliminary hearing.
Daniel Perez was shot and killed near 5th and Maple on Milwaukee’s south side on Sunday, March 10th.
According to the criminal complaint against Luis Perez, he was working on his car Sunday evening when he “observed his wife…on the phone. He believed that she was talking to her boyfriend.” Perez “told Daniel Perez to come pick up this garbage, referring to his wife.”
The complaint says when Daniel Perez arrived to pick up the wife, Luis Perez shot and killed him. Luis Perez told police he then turned his gun on his wife “and pulled the trigger but that the gun jammed.”
The complaint indicates Luis “was attacked by his son, who stabbed him, injuring him.” Luis Perez told the investigating officer he then got into his SUV and crashed it.
Luis Perez is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and attempted first-degree intentional homicide. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.
